§ 110. Mr. Hurd
asked the Minister of Labour, in view of the findings of the Court of Inquiry into last October's dispute at London Airport, if he has now given further consideration to the desirability of appointing a Royal Commission to inquire into the organisation and practices of the trade unions; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Iain Macleod
The Court of Inquiry has pointed out weaknesses on the trade union side, as well as on the employers' side of the Civil Air Transport Industry, but it goes on to indicate how 231W these can be put right by the re-establishment of the authority of the National Joint Council. I see no sufficient reason for recommending the setting up of a Royal Commission to inquire into the organisation and practices of trade unions at the present time.
