§ Sir A. Bossomasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider increasing the maximum weight of heifers eligible for quality payment from nine to 10 cwt. before consideration of the 1959 Price Review is undertaken.
§ Mr. John HareAll standards of eligibility for the guarantees will be considered again in connection with the 1959 Annual Review. The maximum of nine cwt. for Grade 1 heifers was agreed with producers' representatives at the last two Reviews as being reasonable in relation to the present trends of consumer demand for lean meat and small joints. This maximum does not apply to a heifer which fulfils all the quality requirements and which is young enough to have grown not more than two broad teeth and has retained six calf teeth.
