§ Mr. NugentWith unimportant exceptions, the only vehicles not subject to a speed limit outside built up areas are those constructed solely for the carriage of passengers and their personal effects, having an unladen weight not exceeding68W 3 tons, and dual purpose vehicles as defined in the Motor Vehicles (Variation of Speed Limit) Regulations, 1956, provided in each case they are adapted to carry not more than seven passengers excluding the driver. All other vehicles constructed or adapted to carry any goods are at all times subject to a speed limit of 30 m.p.h. or less except on motorways. The classification of vehicles for taxation purposes has no relevance to speed limits.
