asked the Paymaster- General to what extent the recently announced cut in opencast production will lead to a reduction in the number of sites now under requisition.

The reduction in the opencast programme will enable the following sites to be derequisitioned:

  • Drove Road—Northumberland.
  • Broughton Moor Extension—Cumberland.
  • Castle Dene—Durham.
  • Brandon Extension—Durham.
  • Tan Pit Slip—Lancashire.
  • Greasley Castle—Nottinghamshire.
  • Pilsley Green—Derbyshire.
  • Outseats—Derbyshire.
  • Dobbin Clough —Derbyshire.
  • Windywood—Staffordshire.
  • High Hill—Staffordshire.
  • Mitre—Stattordshire.
  • Lawley Coppice—Shropshire.
  • Llwyn Pica—Glamorgan.
  • Taihirion—Glamorgan.
  • New Bryncethin—Glamorgan.
  • Raglan Penylan—Glamorgan.
