§ Mr. Malcolm MacPhersonasked the Minister of Education what information he has as to the number of boys who, on leaving school, are having to wait a year or longer before vacancies become available for them in universities or technical colleges.
Mr. G. LloydI have no evidence that boys leaving school have to wait for places to become available in technical colleges. I understand that many boys cannot obtain immediate admission to the universities and that, when an inquiry was made, over 30 per cent. of a sample of men who had not been admitted in 1955–56 said that they were having to wait a year for a place.
