HC Deb 31 October 1957 vol 575 c87W
75. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy towards the Report of the committee on the laws affecting homosexuality and prostitution.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Her Majesty's Government welcome this logical and clear Report and are grateful to Sir John Wolfenden and his colleagues for the manner in which they have performed a most difficult task.

We are giving consideration to the reactions to the Report. In view of the nature of the problem involved it is important to take account of public opinion and particularly of any views that may be expressed by hon. Members of this House, before coming to any final conclusions on the Committee's recommendations.
