§ Mr. J. Edenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the present number of dogs and other animals compulsorily accommodated in quarantine kennels at the present time; how often these establishments are subject to veterinary inspection; and what arrangements have been made to ensure that the animals are properly fed and humanely treated.
§ Mr. Godber913 dogs and 95 cats are at present in approved quarantine kennels in Great Britain. These kennels are under the control of fully qualified veterinary surgeons who are responsible for the care of the animals. There are arrangements for the inspection of these premises by the Ministry's veterinary officers at least every three months and by the police at least once a month.
My right hon. Friend has no reason to think that dogs and cats in quarantine kennels are not properly fed and humanely treated.
