§ Mr. Grimondasked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he has received from the Federation of British Industries and other trade associations concerning the United States proposals for a tightening of the controls on trade with the Soviet bloc as a condition of freeing certain items for export to China; and what action he intends to take on the Federation's proposals.
§ Sir D. Eccles:Several associations of traders have urged the rejection of proposals in this sense, and the hon. Member may rest assured that we shall give full weight to their views.
