Mr. Creech Jonesasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether the Report of the Swaziland Mineral Development Commission of 1954 has now been considered; and which recommendations have been accepted and which have been rejected by the local government.
§ Mr. Alport:The main recommendation of the Report of the Swaziland Mineral Development Commission was that the mineral law of the Territory should be consolidated and simplified in accordance with the draft mining Proclamation annexed to the Report. This draft has now been carefully considered by the High Commissioner after consultation with the 77W European Advisory Council, the Paramount Chief and other interested parties, and is now receiving final consideration by my noble Friend. It is hoped that it will be possible to authorise the High Commissioner to promulgate the Proclamation very shortly. I will write to the right hon. Gentleman as soon as possible with regard to the last part of his question.
