§ 82. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education whether he is aware of the anxiety among those living in rural areas over the difficulty of obtaining teachers for rural schools, primarily due to the lack of accommodation; and whether, in view of the fact that accommodation is provided for other sections of Government employment, such as the police, etc., he will consider making it obligatory for houses or other accommodation to be provided by local education authorities in rural areas where this is necessary to fill a vacancy.
§ Sir E. BoyleMy noble Friend is prepared to consider sympathetically proposals by local education authorities for the provision of houses for teachers. He would not, however, feel justified in seeking the power to require local education authorities to make such provision.
