asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as representing the Lord President of the Council, the amount of money spent on agricultural research in each of the years 1950 to 1955, inclusive.

Over the six years in question Government expenditure on agricultural research has nearly doubled.

In the years 1950 to 1955, inclusive, the amounts spent on agricultural research co-ordinated by the Agricultural Research Council, and in the Agricultural Department's own establishments were, approximately:
