HC Deb 06 March 1957 vol 566 c66W
98. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement in respect of the recent conference on the future constitution of Mauritius.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am glad to say that the conference under the chairmanship of my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State reached final agreement on the points outstanding except for the system of voting to be used under the new constitutional arrangements. On this it was agreed that a commission should be appointed to examine two possible systems.

I hope to be able to make a full statement in a day or two.
