§ 86. Mr. Burkeasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now make a further statement regarding the steps he proposes to take in order to stem the 55W flood of cheap cotton goods into this country from India, Pakistan and the Far East.

Mr. Thorntonasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the result of the meetings suggested by Sir Anthony Eden a year ago, between representatives of the United Kingdom cotton textile industry and representatives of the cotton textile industries of India, Hong Kong and Pakistan; and if he can now state Her Majesty's Government's policy in relation to the duty-free, quota-free imports of cotton yarn and cloth from India, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
