§ Mr. Hayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many houses at present enjoying the benefit of Section 2 of the Housing Act, 1936 (including houses in rural areas let at a rent not exceeding £16) will lose that benefit as a result of the Rent Act, 1957.

Section 2 of the 1936 Act will continue to apply to any contract to which it applies at the time when the Rent Act comes into force. 163W irrespective of any increase in rent under that Act. In addition, Section 2 will apply to any new contract at a rent not exceeding £80 in the Administrative County of London and £52 elsewhere in England and Wales.
