§ The Attorney-GeneralThe members of advisory committees are appointed by the Lord Chancellor to assist him, personally and confidentially, in certain matters relating to the appointment of Justices of the Peace. It has been the practice for many years not to publish either the names of members of such committees or reports of their proceedings. My noble Friend the Lord Chancellor sees no reason to alter this practice, which received the express approval of the Royal Commission on Justices of the Peace, 1946–48.
