§ 93. Major Wallasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations to what extent British subjects of Maltese origin who have been expelled from Egypt and who wish to emigrate to Australia can obtain assisted passages.
Mr. AlpertThe Anglo-Egyptian Resettlement Board will be able to help British subjects expelled from Egypt who wish to emigrate from this country, by paying for their passage in whole or in part. The decision whether or not to admit such persons to Australia (or any other country) rests, of course, with the Government of that country. The Anglo-Egyptian Resettlement Board have the matter well in hand and have already circulated leaflets explaining how the Board can help those wishing to emigrate, but warning them that any arrangements will necessarily take some little time.
