HC Deb 19 February 1957 vol 565 cc51-2W
Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty how many vessels suspected of carrying slaves have been searched by Her Majesty's ships in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea in each year since 1945; in how many cases their suspicions have proved to be correct; and how many slaves have been released as a result of these searches.

Mr. Soames

Two such vessels have been searched since 1945. These were intercepted in the Red Sea in 1948. Nothing suspicious was found.
