HC Deb 14 February 1957 vol 564 c221W
Mr. Robson Brown

asked the Paymaster-General if he is aware of the effect on the lawn-mower industry, whose exports are some £1,600,000 per annum, caused by the decision to restrict the allocation of petrol for motor lawn-mowers used for domestic purposes to the months April to September; and if he will put domestic users on the same footing as clubs and institutions for allocation purposes.

Mr. Maudling

Regional petroleum officers have now been instructed to issue allowances to domestic users for mowing their lawns as soon as they care to apply. I hope that this will mitigate the effect on the lawn-mower industry referred to by my hon. Friend.
