Mr. Ripponasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much of our earnings, amounting to £348 million, for the year ended 30th June, 1956, from interest, profits and dividends, was in dollars; and whether he will state how much of that figure represents interest, profits or dividend on dollar securities in the Government portfolio.
§ Mr. BirchReceipts in interest, profits and dividends from the dollar area in the year in question amounted to £74 million. It is not the practice to reveal the return on the securities held in the Exchange Equalisation Account.
