HC Deb 12 February 1957 vol 564 c165W
Mr. Rippon

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when the Farm improvement Scheme may be expected to come into operation.

Mr. Amory

If the necessary legislation is enacted before the Summer Recess, it is intended that formal applications for grant should be accepted from 1st September next. Formal approval of proposals will, of course, be necessary before work can start, but intending applicants will be able during the summer to submit particulars of their proposed works so that they can be inspected and details recorded before the Scheme comes into operation. This should enable approval to be given speedily when formal applications are submitted after 1st September.
