asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the number of Service patients of, respectively, the First World War, the Second World War, and the period since 1945, who are patients in mental and psychiatric hospitals or similar institutions as at 31st December, 1956, as a result of service with Her Majesty's forces; and if he will give these figures for Scotland and for England and Wales separately.

Mr. Wood

2,892 for the First World War and 1,550 for the Second World War and since. I regret that separate figures for the period since 1945, or for England and Wales and for Scotland, are not available.
