§ 152. Mr. John Hallasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department the number of Hungarian refugees and British refugees from Egypt now in this country; and what amounts have been contributed by Her Majesty's Government, to date, for the Hungarian Refugee Relief Fund and the Anglo-Egyptian Refugee Relief Fund, respectively.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe numbers are about 17,500 and 4,000 respectively. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Haltemprice (Major Wall) on 31st January.

§ 153. Dr. Strossasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has noted that among those expelled from Egypt, there are a few families in which the wives are British nationals married to non-British subjects; and whether in such cases facility will be given to the husbands for entry into Britain so as to prevent families being broken up.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI understand that there is a number of such cases. A great deal depends on the individual circumstances but I can assure the hon. Member that they are considered very sympathetically.
