HL Deb 01 August 1957 vol 205 cc521-2WA
THE EARL OF MANSFIELD

asked Her Majesty's Government if they will state what form the promised inquiry into the, whole system of rural housing grants for Scotland will take; when it will begin, and by when it is expected that it will be completed.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (LORD STRATHCLYDE)

I assume the noble Earl is referring to the improvement grants made to private persons under Part VII of the Housing (Scotland) Act, 1950. The promised review of the working of the improvement grant scheme will, I hope, be undertaken in the early autumn and will include consultation with the local authority associations. I cannot say at present when the review will be completed.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes past five o'clock until (for Public Business) Tuesday, October 29, 1957.
