HC Deb 15 April 1957 vol 568 c163W
44. Mr. J. Harrison

asked the Minister of Health, in view of the fact that constituents of the hon. Member for Nottingham, North, are having to retain chronic mental cases in their care at home for as long as seven years, thus seriously affecting the upbringing of other normal children and family life, what improvements have been, and are to be. made in the facilities for institutional accommodation for chronic mental cases in and around Nottingham.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

Recent extensions at Aston Hall have provided 120 additional beds for mental defectives and 250 more should be completed shortly at Balderton. The Regional Hospital Board hopes eventually to provide a total of 1,600 beds at these two places.
