HC Deb 10 April 1957 vol 568 c117W
12. Mr. E. Johnson

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to what extent constructional work has started on the road improvement schemes on A.5, A.34, A.41, and A.51, listed officially by him on 11th July, 1956; which schemes have not been started; and why.

Mr. Watkinson

Of the twenty-two schemes listed, ten have been completed, five are in progress and seven have not yet started. Delays are for various technical and procedural reasons which are in course of being cleared.

13. Viscount Hinchingbrooke

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to what extent constructional work has started on the major road improvement schemes officially listed by him on 30th May. 1956; which schemes have not been started; and whether he will give the reasons therefor.

Mr. Watkinson

Work on all but twelve of the thirty-five schemes listed is now started. The reasons for delay in these were mainly procedural, but they are being pressed on urgently.
