§ 90. Mr. Owenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will consider grant aiding the establishment of an institution for further education of Africans in Northern Rhodesia as proposed by the General President of the Northern Rhodesian Trades Union Congress and 132W Railway African Workers' Union on 7th March, 1957.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am informed by the Governor that Mr. Dixon Konkola recently suggested to him that he should approach bodies such as the mining companies to establish an inter-racial college to develop into a University of Northern Rhodesia. The Governor informed him that such higher education was the responsibility of the Federal Government.
