asked the Minister of Labour if he will now reconsider the case for giving rank and file trade unionists the protection of compulsory strike ballot legislation in view of recent stoppages in industry and the widespread demand from workers to be given the right to decide on strike action by secret ballot.

No. Some unions have provision for ballots in their rules, but I am sure that legislation would not help to reduce the number of strikes. Experience in this country and abroad of such measures seems to confirm this.
