§ Mr. Rankinasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the numbers of driving licences which have been temporarily or permanently revoked for the latest available year ; and what proportion of these was due to drunken driving.
§ Mr. Watkinson21,262 holders of driving licences were disqualified during 1954 by the courts in England and Wales. 2,723, or just over 12½ per cent., of these were disqualified following on a conviction for driving or being in charge of a motor vehicle while under the influence of drink or drugs. Comparable figures for Scotland are not available.
