§ Mr. CarrThe Government Training Centre at Gypsy Lane in Leicester was opened in July, 1936, when trade and employment were expanding in order to enable suitable unemployed persons, most of whom came from what were then known as the Scheduled Depressed Areas, to be trained in various engineering and other crafts.
