HC Deb 02 May 1956 vol 552 c46W
85. Mr. Woodburn

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether he is prepared to investigate the cases of excessive driving of 34 hours' duration reported to the Scottish Trades Union Congress, details of which have been sent him, and withdraw the licences from owners regularly so breaking the law.

Mr. Watkinson

As I have informed the right hon. Member, I will let him know the outcome of my inquiries as soon as possible. I have no power to revoke or suspend carriers' licences. Discretion to do this is reserved to licensing authorities subject to appeal to the Transport Tribunal.
