Mr. Doddsasked the Minister of Supply how many tyres and tubes went to make up the 344 tons of tyre and tube scrap sold by his Department at sales of Government surplus stock since 1st January, 1955; how much the scrap realised; who was the largest buyer; and if he will give the main reasons for disposing of these tyres and tubes as scrap.
§ Mr. ErrollNo record was kept of the number of tyres and tubes comprising the tonnage. The amount realised was £8,596. I am not prepared to publish the names of individual buyers. The tyres and tubes were sold as scrap because they were not considered fit for any other purposes.
