HC Deb 15 March 1956 vol 550 c55W
9. Mr. Oliver

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the number of workers that will be affected when the flax factory, Ripley, Derbyshire, closes down; and what other employment will be offered to them.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

There were 85 industrial workers and 6 non-industrial workers employed at the flax factory at Ripley on 29th February, 1956. If any of the workers affected when the factory ceases to operate as a Government-owned flax factory needs help to find other employment, the Ministry of Labour, through its local offices, will do all it can to assist.
