§ 74. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he expects to receive a further report from the Humane Traps Advisory Committee; and how many types of humane traps show promise of replacing the gin trap.
§ Mr. NugentThe second report of the Committee has now been received, and 127W copies are available in the Vote Office. Eighteen traps have been tested in field trials, but in the Committee's opinion only three show any reasonable prospect of being developed as alternatives to the gin. All three are spring traps with choker arms designed to catch and kill the rabbit by the neck as it is entering or leaving the burrow.
