HC Deb 01 June 1956 vol 553 c27W
Mr. Thornton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the decision of the United States Government to pay export subsidies on cotton textile manufactured goods, he will consider affording some help to the United Kingdom cotton textile industry to offset the raw cotton price advantage enjoyed by India and some other countries.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

It is not the policy of Her Majesty's Government to subsidise raw materials for industry.
