§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeDuring the year ended 30th June, 1956, the number of orders made by the Hove borough justices for commitment to prison in default of payment of rates was four, two of which were in respect of the same person. In each case the issue of the warrant was postponed to give the defaulter a further opportunity to pay and only one person was received into prison for non-payment.
