§ 96. Mr. Hastingsasked the Minister of Health how many children under one year of age died from accidental suffocation in the home during the last year; in how many the cause of death was choking; and in how many smothering, through turning over in bed or cot.
§ Mr. TurtonThere were 410 such deaths in 1954; of these, 234 were assigned to choking and 176 to accidental suffocation in bed or cradle. Of the latter it is not possible to say how many died through turning over.
