HC Deb 25 January 1956 vol 548 cc27-8W
75. Mr. P. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will make a statement on the continuance of the Customs concessions on gift parcels being sent to troops in Cyprus.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The Government of Cyprus has not claimed duty on any parcel consigned through the Army Post Office. The Service authorities have been consulted and it is intended that duty should continue to be waived uponbona fide unsolicited gifts of small value sent to officers and other ranks of the Forces serving in the Colony.
