HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c26W
Mr. Owen

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance how many widows were in receipt of the 10s. pension at the nearest convenient date; and when he expects to make a statement on Government proposals to improve the pension of these widows.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

About 175,000, including some 30,000 over age 60 who receive it in the form of a contributory old-age pension.

As regards the second part of the Question, I cannot add to the reply I gave to the hon. and learned Member for Aberdeen, North (Mr. Hector Hughes), and others, on 13th February.
