HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c17W
72. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what response he has had from hospital boards to his communication asking them to restrain both their current and capital expenditure.

Mr. J. Stuart

I am assured that regional hospital boards are making the fullest efforts, consistent with the maintenance of services to patients, to restrain expenditure on hospital running costs. I am further assured that, while the announced programme will not be reduced, urgently needed capital works alone will be undertaken.
