HC Deb 02 February 1956 vol 548 c139W
98. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware that there are in many parts of the country gipsy caravan dwellers who have lived this kind of life for generations without interference; that they are law-abiding citizens but are being harassed almost daily by being driven from their camping grounds; and if he will set up a committee of inquiry to investigate their plight with a view to finding some method by which they can live peaceably.

Mr. Sandys

I am not aware that there is a widespread problem which would justify my setting up a committee of inquiry, but I am always ready to look into particular difficulties.
