§ Sir A. Bossomasked the President of the Board of Trade to give an assurance that the tariffs on imported herbs, such as mint, sage, and thyme, which can be grown in this country, will be maintained and so give a measure of certainty to the grower.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftI am not able to give the assurance requested. As announced in September last, the Board of Trade is considering an application for a reduction in the import duty on certain types of culinary herbs. The examination of this application is still proceeding and the views of all interested parties, including producers, will, of course, be taken Imo account in reaching a decision.
