§ Mr. Lewis
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the new and unavoidable burdens placed upon 128W Members of Parliament by the imposition of 1s. per gallon on petrol, and as Members of Parliament are the only section of the population who have not received an increase in their salaries for some years, he will review the present allowances paid to Members of Parliament.
§ Mr. H. Macmillan
The burden of the increased duty on petrol falls on all sections of the community. I cannot believe that hon. Members of this House would wish the Government to single them out for special relief therefrom.
