§ Mr. Patrick Maitlandasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he applies the same criteria in determining grants to be made towards village hall 85W schemes as are applied South of the Border; and how the scale of such grants both as to their number and their worth compares with the scale of those given in England and Wales.
§ Mr. J. StuartIn Scotland grants under the Physical Training and Recreation Act for village hall schemes are at present, as in the case of all other schemes involving86W capital expenditure, being offered only where the need is specially urgent. In the present financial year one such grant has been made, but other applications are now under consideration. For particulars regarding England and Wales, my hon. Friend will perhaps address his Question to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Education.
