§ Mr. Kirkasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that an accounts book of the King's Works at the Palace of Westminster and elsewhere, in the reign of Edward II, has come to light in private hands; and whether, in view of the importance of the document for the Official History of the King's Works, be will take steps to acquire it for the Public Record Office.
§ Mr. H. BrookeThis valuable document belongs to an important series in the Public Record Office. The Pilgrim Trust has very generously agreed to contribute £1,800 towards its acquisition, and an Exchequer contribution of £1,700, to make up the purchase price of £3,500, will be advanced from the Civil Contingencies Fund. A Supplementary Estimate will be laid before the House in due course.
