HC Deb 11 December 1956 vol 562 c29W
62. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for War the number of reservists in Scottish units now serving abroad, indicating the units in which they are serving, and when they will be released.

Mr. John Hare

There are reservists serving overseas in the following Scottish units: The Royal Scots, The Royal Scots Fusiliers, the King's Own Scottish Borderers, The Black Watch, The Sea-forth Highlanders, The Gordon Highlanders, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The Highland Light Infantry, and The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.

I can give no useful up-to-date figures because the number of reservists still serving is dwindling from day to day as the release scheme proceeds, but at the end of November, before they started coming back, the total number of reservists serving in Scottish units overseas was just over 300.
