§ 55. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland to state the number and nature of accidents resulting in injury to or death of officers and crew which have occurred during each of the last five years in the Government's 27W Fisheries Research vessels, stating which vessel in each case.

In 1952 a member of the crew of "Keelby" sustained non-fatal injuries, including a broken neck, as a result of a fall. In 1955 a member of the crew of "Kathleen" was caught in the winch when seine net gear was being hauled and sustained fatal injuries. The other accidents resulted in injuries such as cuts and abrasions, bruises, sprains, scalding and minor fractures.
