HC Deb 04 December 1956 vol 561 cc97-8W
1. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will state the casualties sustained by Scottish regiments in Cyprus and the Middle East during 1956 up to the latest convenient date, indicating which regiments suffered these casualties, and where; and how many were fatal, serious and slight in character.

Mr. Hare

The Scottish regiments which sustained casualties in Cyprus were 1st Battalion The Gordon Highlanders and 1st Battalion The Highland Light Infantry. The details are given below. There have been no casualties in Scottish regiments elsewhere in the Middle East this year.

Following is the table:

country's petroleum chemicals are produced, although some reduction in supplies early next year cannot be ruled out. Current adjustments in refinery production may lead to some reduction in supplies of gaseous feedstock. Reductions in feedstock supplies would inevitably entail some fall in the production of a range of organic chemicals. We are keeping a close watch on the position in conjunction with the companies concerned.
