HC Deb 02 August 1956 vol 557 cc193-4W
55. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many beds are to be provided in the new hospital

for variation in the grants and loans made by them.

Mr. Amory

The rise in the cost of building fishing vessels is the reason for the raising of the maximum grants payable for new vessels from £25,000 to £30,000 under the White Fish Industry (Grants for Fishing Vessels and Engines) (Amendment) Scheme, 1956, which operates from 7th August. Both the grants and the loans are determined as a prescribed proportion of the final cost of a vessel, so that the effect of variation clauses in builders' contracts—which are common practice—is automatically provided for.
