StuartIn the winter of 1953–54 the road was not blocked at all; in 1954–55 it was totally blocked for 2½ days and open to single lane traffic only for 11 days; in 1955–56 it was blocked on two occasions for about 1½ hours each by vehicles which got into difficulties during snow clearing operations.
