§ Mr. VosperThe average annual value of awards given by local education authorities to university students in the session 1954–55 was £209. The corresponding figure for students at establishments of further education was £118. This second figure is not comparable with the first, because there is often no charge for tuition at institutions maintained by local education authorities.
